Pain management

Based on TCM theory, pain occurs when Qi and blood are blocked while flowing through meridians, or when there are deficiencies of Qi and blood to nourish internal systems. TCM treatment is described as a combination of acupuncture, acupressure (Tui Na) and herbal medicine to remove blockages between the meridians and restore balances. In addition, acupuncture has been proven as a drug-free, safe and effective method for pain relief.

How acupuncture works on pain has been studied. One theory suggests that acupuncture stimulates the production of endorphin, which is consider as the body’s nature pain-killer chemical substances produced by the brain. Another theory suggests that the stimulation from the acupuncture points prevents pain impulses from traveling and reaching to the brain.

Pain conditions which either acupuncture or Chinese herbs can help with include:
Headaches, Migraine and Trigeminal pain
Neck pain, Back pain and Sciatica
Shingles
Tendonitis, Joint pain and Arthritis
